This is a 2-channel video developed for the exhibition “+ ou – 1,5 °” in Botanic Garden of Montpellier. Chia LEE explores the colonial history of orangerie (citrus greenhouse) and revisits the migration of orange from Asia to Europe a millennium ago. She invites two Taiwanese citrus fruits, “liuding” and “jinju” to France to meet their French cousins. However, due to modern border control, today neither human nor citrus can move freely. This video shows a similar destiny between human and non-human, as well as challenges the concept of border made by modern sovereign states.
